I never considered Singles to be of any relevance. Only full, proper, albums. And you know what? Many music aficcionados think like that, too!
But, I was wrong!
Singles, especially during the 90's (the CD era), were amazing and very often they came filled with tracks you will not find anywhere else.
During the Vinyl era the common thing was to have a 2-track single, the 'radio song' on Side 1 and something more exclusive on Side 2, usually a track you wouldn't find on the full record to encourage fans to buy the Single.
During the 90's with the popularization of the CD it made sense to start to produce these singles in the format. The problem was, the CD could hold a lot of time (up to 80 minutes), differently from the 7' records in Vinyl (that could hold up to 5 minutes per side only), so, to make it more attractable to fans they usually came with 4 or 5 tracks on the CD format, and only one was the full record version, everything else was exclusive, sometimes unreleased songs, sometimes live versions, sometimes edits, sometimes remixes, etc etc etc.
I may be wrong but I couldn;t find a blog that focus on the CD era of the singles, so here you go, 90's Singles Archives was born!
We try to focus on the highest quality available (that being 320k Mp3), but sometimes the Single is just too rare and we will post what we can put our digital hands on.
If you have Singles on your PC that we do not have, or if you actually own a physical copy of it, feel free to rip it/zip it and send it to us!
